Malta Radio
Documentary feature film

Sinopsis:

The documentary is narrated by the stories of a sailor who embarks for the first time on the high seas and an immigrant who risks his life in search of an opportunity. "Malta Radio" offers first-hand accounts of the real-life rescue of an immigrant boat by a Spanish trawler in Maltese waters.

In July 2006, a Spanish fishing boat sighted near Malta, a skiff with 51 refugees (men, women and a girl) on board asking for help. After a vote, the crew decides to help the immigrants and take them on board. But Malta's refusal to grant asylum to the immigrants will provoke a surreal odyssey, in which the 61 will have to live together in barely 25 meters. The event had an enormous media impact on the international community. The crew recorded the situation with their cell phones. This is their story.
